Ventura County Compact Presenting Future Scenarios

The Compact for a Sustainable Ventura County project has moved from a first-round public input phase to a process of developing three of four scenarios for the future of the county. This process is governed by a Steering Committee consisting of representatives from the Ventura Council of Governments, the Ventura County Civic Alliance, the Ventura County Transportation Commission, and the Air Pollution Control District. The scenarios will be developed based on the results of workshops held recently in the cities of Ventura, Santa Paula, Oxnard, Camarillo, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley.

Goals for the Compact include protection of open space and wildlife habitats, creation of an effective multi-modal transportation system, maintaining a diversified and vibrant regional economy, and providing for the housing needs of Ventura County residents.

The scenarios will be presented for public discussion in a series of town hall meetings throughout the County in early 2010.

Watch for announcements of dates and locations for these town hall meetings in the very near future.
